The Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow enjoys a unique position among its sister Colleges in the UK in that physicians, surgeons and dentists make up its Membership and Fellowship.  The College was founded in 1599 by Charter of King James VI of Scotland on the instigation of Peter Lowe, a Scottish surgeon.  Lowe's aims of developing standards and encouraging innovation are as applicable today as they were over four hundred years ago.
